Lady Gaga Surpasses 20 Million Followers On Twitter

Pop star extends her record-breaking Twitter dominance over second-place holder Justin Bieber.

<a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/lady_gaga/artist.jhtml">Lady Gaga</a> is known for her prolific Internet presence, and now she can lay claim to another achievement: She's the first person to pass 20 million followers on <a href="https://twitter.com/#!/ladygaga" target="_blank">Twitter</a>. Mother Monster has yet to acknowledge the feat on her social network of choice, but, on February 9, when she noticed her number of followers eclipsed 19 million, she good-naturedly <a href="https://twitter.com/#!/ladygaga/status/167686723906703360" target="_blank">tweeted</a>, "19 Million Followers!!! HOLY HOOKER!!! *goes back to work*" Like many celebrities, Gaga has used Twitter to forge a closer relationship with her fans as well as make announcements about her career and respond to criticism, as she recently did when British music magazine NME named her hit album Born This Way the <a href="/news/articles/1679839/lady-gaga-most-pretentious-albums-born-this-way.jhtml">Most Pretentious Album Ever</a>. Gaga has been the most followed person on Twitter since August 2010, when she blasted past <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/spears_britney/artist.jhtml">Britney Spears</a> for the title when she reached 5.6 million followers. Spears now enjoys 13.6 million followers, making her the seventh most-followed person on the network. Currently in third place is Katy Perry with 15.7 million followers. Shakira (14.5 million) and Rihanna (14.5 million) are not far behind. The only person within spitting distance of Gaga on Twitter is <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/bieber_justin/artist.jhtml">Justin Bieber</a>. The recent <a href="/news/articles/1680248/justin-bieber-birthday-gifts.jhtml">birthday boy</a> has just over 18 million followers. He is, however, a far more prolific tweeter than Gaga; the <a href="http://www.latimes.com/business/technology/la-fi-tn-lady-gaga-20-million-followers-twitter-20120305,0,4076491.story" target="_blank">Los Angeles Times</a> notes that he has sent out 10 times as many tweets as the "Born This Way" diva. Gaga also enjoys a massive following on <a href="http://www.facebook.com/ladygaga" target="_blank">Facebook</a>, where she's been "liked" by nearly 49 million people. But Mother Monster cannot claim being the boss on Facebook. That title belongs to <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/rihanna/artist.jhtml">Rihanna</a>, who has been liked by nearly 53 million individuals.

On Sunday night, some of the biggest names in the music industry hit up the <a href="/news/articles/1664375/billboard-music-awards-recap-justin-bieber-selena-gomez-kiss.jhtml">Billboard Music Awards</a> in Las Vegas and decided that sparkles and sequins make for the perfect additions to any red carpet get-up. Well, it is Sin City after all. <a href="/music/artist/swift__taylor/artist.jhtml">Taylor Swift</a> always seems to bring some of that Nashville sparkle to any red carpet. She arrived at the show in a pale-hued, sequined Elie Saab gown. <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/minaj__nicki/artist.jhtml">Nicki Minaj</a> showed off her signature sense of style in her baby-blue, body-hugging spandex Mark Fast catsuit. <a href="/music/artist/gomez__selena/artist.jhtml">Selena Gomez</a> turned up the style dial in a sexy, cut-out black Dolce & Gabbana gown that she paired with red strappy sandals with sparkly bow detailing. Like Gomez, <a href="/music/artist/_kesha_/artist.jhtml">Ke$ha</a> opted for some cut-out detailing in her sparkly, slate-gray dress with tulle skirt. <a href="/music/artist/rihanna/artist.jhtml">Rihanna</a> looked white hot in her men's tailored Max Azria suit, which she kept sexy and feminine by not buttoning her shirt all the way. Fergie went S&M chic in her little black bandage-type dress by Hervé Léger. Nicole Kidman also wore black. She paired a casual braid hairstyle with a long black gown and Keith Urban. British pop cutie Kyle Minogue looked funky in her little black lacey dress. Inside the show, Britney Spears sat in the audience wearing a skimpy black dress of her own, her hair in loose curls, with little-to-no accessories. While some stars kept the color scheme low-key, Keri Hilson decided to stand out in her billowy little yellow dress paired with a turquoise-colored belt. Kelly Rowland showed off some of her best assets in a body-hugging, bright pink bandage dress. The fellas also looked tight on the carpet. Joe Jonas wore all black with white sneakers, Ne-Yo paired his periwinkle suit with a Yankees cap and Justin Bieber wore black tuxedo pants with a gold-lamé tuxedo jacket. And in a new, candid interview with Oprah Winfrey on her show "<a href="http://www.oprah.com/own-oprahs-next-chapter/Sneak-Preview-Oprah-Interviews-Lady-Gaga-and-Her-Mother-Video" target="_blank">Oprah's Next Chapter</a>," Mother Monster chats about someday actually becoming a mother. "Yes, I want kids, I want a soccer team and I want a husband," she said in the special, which airs Sunday on Winfrey's OWN cable network. "Yeah, I do. Well, you know, I'm being superfluous. I don't want to have one kid. "I just have one thing to say before we get started: We got Oprah! ... Thank you from all of us — from my entire team, from my mother, from the bottom of the hearts of so many people who believe in what we're doing today," Gaga said at the launch. She explained that the foundation seeks to empower the youth of America, adding, "How can we inspire young people to know they have the power to be brave?"

Is Britney Spears Getting Closer To 'X Factor' Gig?

'I'm fascinated by her,' Cowell says of singer, who's rumored to be contender to join show.

There are several women's names currently being tossed around as potential judges for the upcoming season of "X Factor." Avril Lavigne, <a href="/news/articles/1679730/x-factor-new-judges-hosts.jhtml">Janet Jackson and Britney Spears</a> are the leading rumored contenders to replace <a href="/news/articles/1678191/paula-abdul-exits-x-factor.jhtml">Nicole Scherzinger and Paula Abdul</a> for the show's completely revamped second season, which kicks off later this year. In a recent press call, Simon Cowell would not confirm who producers were talking to, but he did not deny that Jackson was on the table. "You can probably count on two girls," fellow judge L.A. Reid added. "That we can confirm." Cowell recently addressed the Britney buzz on Billy Bush's <a href="http://www.accesshollywood.com/billy-bush/simon-cowell-x-factor-would-be-a-walk-in-the-park-for-britney-spears_articletab_61327" target="_blank">radio show</a>, continuing to play coy about the chatter. "Well, I'm fascinated by her. The fact that she's still one of the most talked-about — not just pop stars, but people — in the world today means that you've got this star power. This girl's got resilience, and the fact that she's survived this and she's still hot, she's still having hit records and she's still controversial ... there's a reason for that. "I would think that if she's managed to sustain a family, a career, which is tough, this is a walk in the park," he added, noting that he believes she would be a good judge. While Cowell seems to be dancing around the issue, British "X Factor" judge Louis Walsh may have let the cat out of the bag in an <a href="http://www.breatheheavy.com/2012/02/uk-x-factor-judge-confirms-talks-with-britney/?utm_medium=twitter&utm_source=twitterfeed" target="_blank">interview</a> on U.K. talk show "Craig Doyle Live." He shared that Spears was indeed talking to producers about possibly joining the show. "I know he is talking to Britney. I know he's definitely talking to Britney to do the American show. Absolutely true and maybe Janet Jackson," he said. In the end, Cowell summed up the current spate of rumors on that conference call. "There's a load of speculation, some true, some not true. It's true to say that a lot more people have entered the frame this year. We were waiting to see who was going to contact us before we actually contacted people," he said last week. "We're in that place right now, which is a good place to be in. We will meet a number of people over the next few weeks, mainly to explain to them that this is a big commitment when you do a show like this because of the mentoring aspect."

Paul McCartney Announces World Tour, New Album Also In The Works

Paul McCartney has announced that he will tour the world in 2013. His first stop will be on June 22 in Warsaw Poland, a place he and his band have never been to. As a matter of fact, the tour, entitled Out There!, will highlight places never visited by him and the band. The former Beatles singer also revealed that he is working on a new studio album.

McCartney also announced a second show in Vienna, Austria on June 27. More dates will be available shortly. The statement posted on the singer’s website read:

“The tour will see Paul and his band travel the world throughout the year, even visiting some places they’ve never been before. Further announcements and dates will be added in the coming weeks so stay tuned to PaulMcCartney.com for updates and ticketing details.”

The website also states that McCartney is currently working on a new studio album, to follow last year’s covers record, Kisses On The Bottom.

McCartney was recently announced as one of the headliners at the Bonnaroo Festival in Manchester, Tennessee this summer, alongside along with Bjork, Tom Petty, Mumford and Sons, R. Kelly, Wu-Tang Clan, and many, many more.

Justin Bieber's Pet Monkey Quarantined in Germany

Adding another bizarre headline to his recent collection, Justin Bieber had his pet monkey quarantined at an airport in Germany.

On Thursday (March 28), the 19-year-old singer landed in Munich for an upcoming concert and attempted to being the exotic pet in the country without official permission.

In a statement to People magazine, Thomas Meister, spokesman for the customs office at the Franz Josef Strauss Airport explained, "Justin Bieber brought his monkey to Germany, but had no official paperwork with him," adding, "We were forced to confiscate the animal."

Bieber will reportedly have to pay the charges of quarantining the animal and will also be charged with a fine.

At this time Bieber's rep had no comment on the situation, but stick with GossipCenter for the latest updates.

Trailer For Long-Delayed 'You're Next' Is Undeniably Terrifying

You're Next

The first trailer for Adam Wingard's home invasion horror movie "You're Next" has us feeling conflicted.

On one hand, the movie won accolades when it originally premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2011. Wingrad and writer Simon Barrett in the mean time have kept themselves busy with the "V/H/S" series. The film is finally getting a release after some complications with the studio, and fans of the film are thrilled.

On the other hand, "You're Next" looks terrifying, and we want it die, lest we accidentally end up in a theater eagerly watching as the masked killers stalk their next victim.

Adam Lambert Grabs Some Grub with Pals

Enjoying relaxing downtime with friends, Adam Lambert grabbed some food and drinks at The Abby in West Hollywood, CA on Friday (March 29).

The 31-year-old singer looked fashionable in a teal leopard-print shirt, grey skinny jeans, and sneakers as he laughed with his pals while sipping on martinis.

Adam's also ready for a musical summer, and is set to headline Pittsburgh's Pride in the Street festival.

According to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Lambert is scheduled to play a 90-minute concert with a full band and his dancers at an outdoor venue on June 15.

Last year Melissa Etheridge took center stage, drawing in an impressive crowd of 6,800 to the event.

UPDATE: Kailyn is now pregnant!!! She and Javi are expecting a baby, so Isaac will be a big brother!!! So cute! We are so happy for the couple, and I hope that her pregnancy is featured on the show!!! Javi Marroquin is now Kailyn Lowry’s husband! I had no idea that the Teen Mom 2 star was married! Honestly, I was kind of holding out hope that she and Jo would get back together. I think in a different time and space, they could have made it work.

Teen Mom 2 is currently in the middle of airing on MTV and we are no where near Kailyn dating. She has just broken up with Jordan (for good, it seems), Jo told her he has moved on, and Kailyn is considering moving to Texas.

Well, apparently Kailyn has moved on too. Sometime between then and now, she met and fell in love with Javi Marroquin, who is entering the Air Force. They wed in a courthouse ceremony before he left. Kailyn gave an interview back in November when she was hit with false rumors of her wedding. We get the idea, but here she did reveal some interesting tid bits.

On how she met fiance Javi:

I was working in a retail store in the mall, and he came in shopping. He asked me on a date, and I said no! I like turned him down for so long, but then we finally started dating.

On letting son Isaac meet Javi:

Javi actually wanted to meet Isaac right away, and I felt like that was kind of the best case scenario because if they didn’t bond, I knew it wasn’t going to work out with Javi.

I felt like it was in the best interest for everyone. I didn’t want to waste my time with someone for six months and then for it not to work. They met while we were still friends.

On how Javi and Isaac have bonded:

Oh my God they love each other. It’s so funny. In the morning, if Isaac wakes up and I’m not up yet, Javi will go get him and they’ll come in and stare at me or they’ll jump on the bed to wake me up. They love each other!

He actually took Isaac trick-or-treating for me while I was at work.

On her relationship with Isaac’s dad:

I struggled a lot with coming to terms … with Jo dating someone else. It was so hard for me to understand that someone else was going to be in Isaac’s life, and it was especially hard because people didn’t understand that I didn’t want to be with Jo. I just wanted to kind of exclude her from the picture, you know? I didn’t want her to be around Isaac, and to this day it’s still hard for me. I think I’ve come more to terms with it.

I mean, I was with Jordan when he started dating this girl, and so I had somebody, but it was more like Isaac is my only solid family, he’s my only blood.

Jo didn’t understand that. I don’t think anyone really understands where I’m coming from.

I totally get where she is coming from. I wish her and Javi all the best and send out my warmest well wishes. She is one of my favorite Teen Mom’s. She has fully taken on her responsibility as a parent and is a fantastic mother to beautiful Isaac.

Like, what? We're all just a bunch of bumbling idiots?

Here's my response:

No, no, no.

I don't push doors that say "pull" because I can read.

I don't explain why I'm laughing because I don't have to explain myself to anyone.

I don't walk into a room and forget why I went there because I'm not an idiot.

I don't count on my fingers because I'm smart enough to do it in my head.

'Glee'-Cap: Michael Jackson Invades McKinley High

King of Pop's takeover leads to some head-scratching song choices.

"Glee" paid tribute to Michael Jackson during Tuesday night's episode and, shockingly, kept the story moving along in the midst of several MJ-inspired musical numbers. Kurt, Rachel and Quinn all received great news about college, Rachel finally accepted Finn's proposal and evil Sebastian's plot to harm Kurt with a doctored slushee backfired when Blaine took the hit for his boyfriend. <div class="player-placeholder right" title="'Glee'-Cap: Michael Jackson Takes Over McKinley High" id="vid:730282.id:1671179" width="240" height="211"></div> Yet the forced "all Michael, all the time" song selection led to some head-scratching scenes including Kurt, Rachel and Finn serenading an injured Blaine with Jackson's love song to a rat, "Ben," and two different music-video re-enactments only appealed to Jackson superfans. The rest of us can enjoy my latest "Glee-cap"! Hit play on the embedded video and sing along with these lyrics. And the pop singer is giving his fans a lot of bang for their buck for taking the time to vote in the cover-art contest. After fans voted on Twitter for their favorite of two photos, the shot of Bieber tousling his hair (also known as #JBboyfriend1) won as the single's cover. This is OUR ALBUM!" he tweeted before revealing the photo, which blends #JBboyfriend1 and #JBboyfriend2, the latter of which is just a shot of him looking off into the distance. "Boyfriend" officially drops on March 26. <a href="/news/articles/1680373/justin-bieber-believe-album.jhtml">Believe</a> will drop later this year. Produced by Mike Posner, the track features a bit of <a href="/news/articles/1681320/justin-bieber-complex-magazine.jhtml">Bieber rapping</a> lines like "Tell me what you like, dear/ Tell me what you don't/ I could be your Buzz Lightyear/ Fly across the globe/ You don't even need to fight, dear/ You already know/ I can make you shine bright/ Like you're laying in the snow, brrr."

Michelle Williams dished to MTV News, "Man, "She looks fantastic, amazing, amazing, amazing. I wasn't surprised because even before she was pregnant she had a six pack, she was very toned. So, obviously it just went back very quickly." Fellow DC gal pal Kelly Rowland also can't handle how Beyoncé is bringing sexy back one hot dress at a time. "She looks fantastic. She looks fantastic. I told her she looks so hot!" Rowland exclaimed. "She looks so hot — just even sexier. Love her!" And Williams noted that it's not just Beyoncé who is doing well these days, but so is 1-month-old Blue. "Absolutely! Absolutely [I've seen everyone]!" she said. Reality TV family Kourtney Kardashian, Scott Disick and 3-year-old Mason enjoyed breakfast at the Commons Mall on Thursday (March 28).

After breakfast the trio visited the turtle pond where an excited Mason checked out the turtles, while his parents watched closely.

Michael Jackson Doctor Can't Afford Lawyer For Appeal

Conrad Murray asks judge for a court-appointed attorney to appeal his involuntary manslaughter conviction.

Just weeks after being sent to jail for <a href="/news/articles/1675062/conrad-murray-sentence.jhtml">four years</a> following a conviction on a felony involuntary manslaughter charge in the death of <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/jackson_michael/artist.jhtml" target="_blank">Michael Jackson</a>, cardiologist Conrad Murray is throwing himself on the mercy of the court. The doctor had been slated to earn up to $150,000 a month to act as Jackson's personal physician before the pop icon's death in June 2009 from an overdose of the Murray-administered surgical anesthetic propofol. But on Tuesday <a href="http://www.eonline.com/news/conrad_murray_in_shackles_asks/280479" target="_blank">E! News</a> reported that Murray filed a <a href="/news/articles/1675343/conrad-murray-conviction-appeal.jhtml">notice of appeal</a> in Los Angeles Superior Court in which he claimed that he is "indigent and respectfully requests the appointment of counsel on appeal." Murray, 58, is planning to appeal both his conviction and his sentence, but has not yet filed papers with the California Appeals Court. He had hired two lawyers to handle his manslaughter case, but is now seeking attorneys with appeal experience. One of those former lawyers, J. Michael Flanagan, told E! that he was shocked at how his client is being treated in jail. "It is crazy and unbelievable how [the sheriffs] are treating" Murray in jail, said Flanagan, who claimed he waited over an hour to see Murray, who was brought out in handcuffs and leg chains. Flanagan was further shocked to see Murray handcuffed to the table for their meeting, something the lawyer said he'd never seen before in the case of a low-level, non-violent offender. Charles Peckham, who is handling civil cases against Murray, told the <a href="http://www.washingtonpost.com/national/doctor-convicted-in-michael-jacksons-death-seeking-court-paid-attorney-for-appeal/2011/12/13/gIQAHIYGsO_story.html" target="_blank">Associated Press</a> that his client is under tight security and isolation that is more intense than other inmates at the Los Angeles Men's Central Jail. "Treating him like Hannibal Lecter is offensive," said Peckham. "This man who saved lives made a mistake, and they're going to [make] him pay like a mass-murderer." Sheriff's officials defended the tight security, saying it was for Murray's safety.

<a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/romeo_santos/artist.jhtml">Romeo Santos</a>, the former lead singer of the popular bachata group <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/aventura/artist.jhtml">Aventura</a>, has taken a new step in his career, venturing out on his own as a solo artist. Mixing his signature bachata flair with some R&B, he is showing fans a whole new side on his debut album, Formula, Vol. 1. <div class="player-placeholder right" title="Romeo Breaks Into Mainstream With Lil Wayne" id="vid:734074" width="240" height="211"></div> Hoping to spread his unique sound and style to a mainstream audience, Santos enlisted <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/lil_wayne/artist.jhtml">Lil Wayne</a> for his latest single, "All Aboard." "This song 'All Aboard,' that tune allowed me to expand and kind of offer my audience something totally different because it's not bachata — I'm singing English and that was really fun," Santos recently told MTV News. "I was a little nervous about that, but people actually really accepted it." Santos and Weezy recently shot the video for "All Aboard" in Miami; he called the clip "sexy," "seductive" and "elegant," but also revealed that this collaboration came very close to not making his album. "I was just like, I like the song but it's missing something, and at first I couldn't figure out what it was," Santos said. "What we did was we left 16 bars open, and I was like, you know, who would rip this track? Lil Wayne. So we reached out. It barely made the album because he's a busy dude, so he actually got on the record two months after we submitted it. It was like, if we don't get his vocals in the next two days we hit, and we got it, so we made it and the song is just really great." Wayne isn't the only artist Santos pulled in for his album. On his last single, "Promise," he teamed up with <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/usher/artist.jhtml">Usher</a>, who last week joined him onstage at <a href="/news/articles/1678993/romeo-santos-solo-tour.jhtml">Santos' first of three sold-out shows</a> at New York's Madison Square Garden. "I felt at that moment once again I was going to revolutionize bachata 'cause it was the first time that you hear an artist from the mainstream singing bachata," Santos said. "It was a big deal."
