U2 are hoping to finish their new album later this year, with the goal of releasing it in early 2014. Bass player Adam Clayton revealed in a radio interview that the band are really trying to finish the project soon, and spoke a little about the sound of the album.
This new album will be the first U2 record in four years, since 2009′s No Line On The Horizon. As previously mentioned, it is expected that their new record will appear in 2014.
Clayton told the Irish radio station 98FM that the the record will feature a sound reminiscent of old U2, “but with the maturity, if you like, of the U2 of the last 10 years. It’s a combination of those two things and it’s a really interesting hybrid.” He also said that the band is in the studio right now trying to get 12 songs finished before Christmas, so that they can enjoy the holidays.
Guitarist The Edge, who was also present during the interview said:
“We always try to bring out something different, every time we’re in the studio. But it’s the fans who decide that really.”
There’s some assumption that U2 were reportedly working with Coldplay‘s Chris Martin; some say that the singer will appear on U2′s upcoming record.
