Eddie Murphy is back in the music business. The funny actor, who joined Twitter earlier this summer, teased the cover art for “Red Light,” the first single off his forthcoming solo album titled 9. The reggae track features a verse by rapper Snoop Lion. Check it out the track and cover art below.
In the single, Murphy sings and plays the guitar while Snoop Lion contributes a verse. Murphy admits in the song that “My high anxiety is getting higher / Feels like I’m gonna blow”; he also talks about the military and broken economy.
This isn’t the first time that Murphy dips his fingers in music making. In the 80s and early ’90s, the actor released a series of albums and singles, including “Party All the Time,” which Rick James co-wrote and produced, plus an album titled Love’s Alright, featuring Michael Jackson on one track. Here’s “Red Light” and the cover art for 9:
Snoop Lion also recently released an album, titled Reincarnated last April. The LP was accompanied by a confusing documentary of the same title that was released in theaters in March.
You can also listen to “Red Lights” at SoundCloud. A music video for the single will debut on Sept. 9.
What do you think of the track?
